A decadent 24 hours

Every time we drive by Gilroy, which is often now that we go down to Paso so frequently, Assana tells Dan about this fancy resort that is in San Martin… and we always talk about visiting it. Honestly, until we started getting advertisements about it we didn't even know there was a town called San Martin down there! So we have plans to stop for a spa get away on our way back from Paso. We especially need a break from this particular trip to Paso since It is an errand-running trip full of back-to-back appointments.

Driving up to the resort is quite odd since there are no signs - just the street address. Our room is a large room overlooking the golf course. Nice. After a bit of wine tasting at Clos la Chance winery with the most unfriendly tasting room staff, we check in to the spa for our appointments. Assana's Hot Stone Therapy is great, though not the best she has ever had, but Dan loves his scrub-mud wrap-facial-massage combo session. We leave the spa super relaxed and lubed up just in time for dinner.

And dinner… OMG, we haven't had so much great bad-for-you food in one sitting! It starts with home made potato chips - yum - followed by batter dipped garlic truffle fries - yumm. Dinner is Asiago crusted chicken on pesto gnocchi for Dan - yummm - and mac & cheese with truffle and prosciutto for Assana - yummmm. And like we haven't had enough food, our waiter recommends beignets for dessert, and they come with three sauces: raspberry, caramel and chocolate. Yummmmm! All this paired with a fabulous bottle of Robert Sinsky Pinot - yummmmmm! Probably 5000 calories for each of us.

And wait… there is more! We spent the following morning at the spa also! More massages for Dan and sea salt scrub and a manicure for Assana. Awwh. Best 24 hours ever.

CordeValle is a great quick spa get away… and just forty miles from us. We definitely hope to come back.
